Police have released an image after a string of thefts from vans in South Manchester and Trafford
The first incident took place at around 10.30am on June 1st, when police were called to reports of a theft on Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton.
Officers attended and found that a man had been unloading a van as he moved into a flat, when two offenders approached and took a television from the van.
They struck again at 1pm on June 19, when police were called to reports of a theft on Burford Drive in Whalley Range.
Two offenders had approached an unattended van which was parked on the street.
They opened the rear shutter and removed a new television from a pile of boxes from within the van.
Two weeks later, shortly after 10.15am on June 29, police were called to reports of a theft at a garage on Stretford Road in Urmston.
A man had been unloading items from a van for delivery, when he was approached by two offenders who took 19 packets of cigarettes from the van.
After all three incidents, the offenders have made off in an unknown direction.
Police believe these thefts may be linked and have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with these incidents.
Detective Constable Michael Zarb of GMP’s City of Manchester Borough, said: “We are continuing to investigate how these victims were left without their valued goods.
“I have released this image in the hope that someone recognises the man, or the clothing he’s wearing, in order to help with our enquiries.
“Given the time of day that these incidents happened, I’d ask that if you saw someone acting suspiciously or someone carrying these large items in this area, to get in touch and share what information you have.”
