Monarch Airlines sadly went bust overnight leaving 110,000 people abroad and staff not knowing what is to happen to their jobs, and people wondering what will happen to the holiday they booked for next year, and the huge issue of refunds.
All those abroad will be able to continue with their holiday as normal as of now, the only difference will be when you are due to return, you will not be on a Monarch aircraft and a delay will be expected of up to an hour.
As for staff, we think pilots will be recruited by other airlines along with other cabin crew, but their will be job losses.
Monarch Airlines said: “If you are currently abroad and due to return to the UK on or before 15 October 2017 we are making arrangements for you to return home to the UK on a new flight, at the end of your holiday. These new flights will be at no extra cost to you.
“We will of course prioritise vulnerable passengers, including unaccompanied minors, and make sure that family groups travel on the same flights.”
As it says they will bring people back home if you are on holiday up to the 15th October, but what if your holiday is due to end on the 16th or further? it is our guess you will have to pay to get back home, although at a reduced rate, we suggest you end your holiday a little sooner if you want to come back for free.
