Driving Test

Changes to the driving test in the UK begin from Monday

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has confirmed that the driving test in England, Scotland and Wales will change from Monday 4 December 2017.

These changes are designed to make sure new drivers have the skills they’ll need to help them through a lifetime of safe driving.

Changes to the test include:

  • Independent driving will increase by twenty minutes
  • Following directions from a sat nav
  • Reversing manoeuvres is to be changed
  • Answering a vehicle safety question while you’re driving

This will affect anyone who failed the test previously, or your test had been cancelled or moved will start from 4th December.

The pass mark, length of test and the cost will be the same, no changes.

Changes to the test are needed for additional safety, and help younger drivers understand what to do at higher speeds, and distraction from a sat nav, even someone in the car, just one moments lapse in concentration is all it takes to create a pile up.
