Trafford MV are feeling confident and ambitious going into the new year

Going into 2018 Trafford MV Rugby Club in Sale are looking for an upsurge of interest as they offering Rugby for all – if you are 6 or if you are 60 MV would like you to enjoy Rugby with them. In addition to their three adult teams playing senior rugby the club boasts a thriving mini / junior sections ranging from 3-year-old boys and girls through to colts rugby at 17/18 years of age.

These young players are educated in the skills and techniques required to enjoy the sport safely as well as learning the ethos of rugby based on teamwork, leadership and respect. Rugby is an excellent sport which see’s young players grow into well grounded adults with a respect for authority as well as their opponents.

The Club has recently seen a growth in former players and total novices enjoying non contact versions of the game in the forms of Walking Rugby for over 50’s men and women on Wed evenings at 6.30pm and Touch Rugby for over 35’s on Thursday evenings again at 6.30pm.

These gentler versions of the game are great for fitness, competition and for making new friends and being involved in a group activity. Why not give it a try in 2018?

The Club are also interested in forming an occasional Vets XV Rugby Squad of local players interested in playing a few games a season with plenty of recovery time in between.

The fixtures will be competitive social games played with a large squad and plenty of replacements taking the field. All local players interested are invited to get in touch if interested.

Trafford MV are looking to keep players involved in the sport they love after there prime playing days are passed and social rugby is the golden chalice.

At 1st XV level Trafford MV open 2018 with one of their toughest fixtures so far this season when they face Lancs / Cumbria League leaders Aspatria at their North Cumbrian ground.

MV will need to be at their very best and take the game to Aspatria who have lost 3 times this season – so are not unbeatable. MV has the ability and ambition to finish top of the mid table group and fight for a top 4 finish this season.
