Man charged after committing serious offences in the Altrincham area

A male  aged 39 who cannot be identified due to current investigations has been charged after committing a series of serious crimes in the Altrincham area.

On January 11th a man armed with knives forcefully entered two properties, one on The Downs and the other on Oakfield Road in Altrincham.

In the first home he threatened a family, stealing property and then kidnapping them in their own vehicle in an attempt to steal cash from their bank accounts at local ATM’s, the family was able to escape, he then went on to attack a family on Oakfield Road, stealing items and their vehicle.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle heading towards Manchester where a short pursuit took place and the suspect arrested.

The man was charged with three robberies, two kidnap, in possession of a bladed weapon, one attempted robbery, disqualified driving, fail to stop, assaulting a police officer, aggravated vehicle taking and no insurance.
