Never leave a dog or any animal in a car or van during warm weather, even if you leave the window a little bit open or parked in shade.
The RSPCA say that people have a mistaken belief that if they open the window and park in the shade that the animal will be alright, your pet will still be in a dangerous situation.
A car can become as hot as an oven very quickly, even when it doesn’t feel that warm. When it’s 22 degrees, in a car it can reach an unbearable 47 degrees within the hour.
If you see a dog in a car or van on a warm day you must call 999 immediately more so if the dog is showing signs of distress.
