Campaigners have switched back on an idea that was first seen back in 1982 when the then MP for Altrincham and Sale wanted a bypass created.
Plans for a bypass it seems had already been created, sadly nothing was ever done about it, now campaigners have a petition out to get this bypass built.
Back then we did not have as many cars and vans as we do today, Washway Road in Sale all the way into Altrincham both ways is a nightmare, it is now this bypass is badly needed and we support it.
Having a bypass would help free up Washway Road and surrounding roads, so what are the benefits you may be asking? well for one traffic will ease on Washway Road/Manchester Road and making it safer, less polluted and actually the mayor or even the council could then create even fresher air for residents by banning HGV’s.
It would also help cyclists and help the road to recover, it would help businesses all over Trafford, it is simply too good to throw in the bin this time around.
The plans are to create an ammended bypass on green belt land, this could prove a sticking point with some people, however the amount of benefits from the bypass are far more than just a bit of green space that no one uses.
