Greater Manchester Fire had six engines fighting the fire at the pub tackling the blaze which started in the kitchen at around 11.20am this morning June 3rd.
Three people managed to get out alive although needed treatment for smoke inhalation.
Police were on hand to close the A56 Chester Road whilst the incident was on going, it is not yet known yet how badly damaged the pub is, however from pictures we have seen it may never recover.
Incident Commander Steve Jordan said: “Crews worked incredibly hard and efficiently to bring this incident under control fast.
“We’re confident the fire is out and have checked the whole building, there are only three casualties with minor smoke inhalation who have been treated.
“We’ve managed to re-open the blocked road and the incident is scaling down, although some crews will remain on scene to make sure the area is safe”.
