Trafford MV have started their pre-season training at MacPherson Park under their new leadership team of head coach Richard Phillips and Club Captain Andy Quigley.
Attendance at early sessions has been good and sessions have been hard and varied with plenty of ball in hand fitness work being done as well as measured performance workouts.
Coach Phillips has joined the club with fresh ideas and a new plan for local players to come and fight for a 1st XV place. Competition is welcomed and the club are keen to see the products of the local rugby playing schools to get on board as Trafford MV compete in the ADM Lancashire Premier Division.
MV will be hosting Llandudno RFC in a pre-season friendly in mid August and will have one or two more arranged as required. The first competitive fixture of the season see’s Trafford MV drawn at home in the Brian Leigh Lancashire Trophy with Oldham as the opposition. MV and Oldham are old adversaries and there will be no love lost in this early season encounter.
MV are keen to make links with local firms and businesses as they go into this new season with games far and wide across the county. With a vibrant club covering a number of sports and hosting a number of key community events Trafford MV invites local companies to discuss sponsorship / advertising opportunities and build good community networks.
Coaching sessions at Trafford MV are held every Tues / Thurs at 6.45pm and anyone interested in joining the clubs 2018/19 campaign should get in touch with Greg Hawkins on 07834 857905.
The club also enjoys the social side of rugby too and the 3rd XV is there for players who just want to enjoy a Saturday run out. Trafford MV 1st XV can be seen proudly wearing kit sponsored by local Sale company BJT Services for the new season.
