A motorcyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after colliding with a vehicle in Altrincham.
Around 7.10pm last night (Saturday 4 August), a report was made to police that there had been a collision on Regent Road, at the junction with Groby Road.
Witness accounts from the scene detail that as a red Ducati Multistrada motorcycle had approached, it was involved in a collision with a red Volkswagen Touran.
The 50-year-old motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious head and facial injuries, for which he remains in hospital.
His family are by his bedside as he receives treatment.
Whilst the other driver remained at the scene, no arrests have been made and witnesses are encouraged to make contact with investigating officers.
Police Constable Phil Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As it was still quite early on in the evening and the weather was dry, there would have been people who witnessed exactly what happened – we need them to contact us as soon as possible.
“While this man is laying in hospital being treated by specialist medical staff, we’re continuing with our enquiries to find out exactly how he came to be in such a serious condition.
“Please, whether you witnessed it first-hand or saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision, please get in touch.”
