The caller says that the resident owes money to the tax office which must be paid immediately and unless the money is paid the resident will be arrested and all their goods seized.

They also insist on secrecy, saying that if the resident tells anyone, they will arrested. These calls are threatening and quite frightening.

HMRC or the Tax Office in short will never make calls like these and members are advised never to give financial or personal information to anyone you do not know. Calls like this are fake so please – JUST HANG UP THE PHONE.

Please share this information with friends, relatives and neighbours. To report a fraud, call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
