Police are investigating after a man was kicked down a flight of stairs in a nightclub in Altrincham and released a picture of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was walking downstairs at Traders Tiki Bar, Goose Green, Altrincham at around 2.25am on October 6th 2018, when he unknowingly blocked the path of a second man who was walking upstairs.
The offender took offence and pushed him out of the way, he then carried on walking upstairs before running back downstairs behind the victim and kicking him in the back causing him to fall.
Door staff found the victim at the foot of the stairs in a pool of blood, he suffered serious injuries which included broken ribs, a broken cheekbone and a broken eye socket.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged, he will though need to continue his treatment as he recovers at home.
Constable Lawrence Antrobus of GMP’s Trafford Division said: “This was a shocking and cowardly assault on a member of the public who was simply minding his own business.
“This attack left the victim with very serious injuries. We are thankful that he’s continuing his recovery well, but the consequences could have been much graver.
“This man had his back tuned and had no means of fighting back. The kind of person who would assault a fellow member of the public in this way needs to be caught and prosecuted.
“We have now released the image of a man who we think could help us with our enquiries.
“Do you recognise him or have any information on this assault? If so – please get in touch immediately.”
