Snow has hit Trafford and indeed the North West region hard and has caused huge tail backs on our big roads and some tricky conditions on the back roads.
All morning we have witnessed huge tail backs as far as the eye can see south bound at Washway Road, Metrolink was out of action for most of the morning, we believe services have resumed after a points failure at Timperley.
Some schools in Trafford were closed for the day, which enabled kids to make some incredibly good snowmen, Walton Park was the place to be for this creativity., although other parks and green spaces could have also had some great snowmen.
The back roads though are in places incredibly dangerous to all users, and all paths we went down in Sale was not gritted and in places very slippy, we understand many people have fallen today due to the conditions.
People have come on to social media to complain about One Trafford not gritting pavements, they do not have to grit side roads, however we recall them doing that a couple of years ago and all paths and back roads were clear! not so this time.
As the temperature rises some of the snow will melt which will quickly turn to ice tonight creating even more hazards for pedestrians, we suggest wearing your snow cleats or buying some.
We will have full and live updates on the road situation as it happens from around 5pm tonight on our Live page.
