Two star rowers from Trafford Rowing Club have this week achieved the qualification time to attend the GB trials at the end of February in Boston.
Rebekah and Myles, both J16s beat the target time of 18:15 for boys and 20:30 for girls for a 5k “erg”, on an indoor rowing machine similar to those found in most gyms.
Leon Langmead, Head Junior Coach at Trafford Rowing Club said: “ Myles and Rebekah have done fantastically well to achieve this standard and it will give them the opportunity to compare themselves with the best in the country.
“All members of the junior squads have been working extremely hard over the winter training months and success like this boosts the entire squad. We had crews in the top 10 in the country last year and we are looking to improve on that this year.”
Simon Reeves, Chairman of Trafford Rowing Club added “This is an incredible achievement and the whole Trafford family are delighted for Myles and Rebekah, under the tutelage of Leon they have improved enormously. Unfortunately the trials in Boston clash with our own event on the Bridgewater Canal on the 23rd February but we will be thinking of Myles and Rebekah on the day and wish them well.”
