A team of members and staff from leading Manchester-based barristers’ Chambers, Deans Court Chambers raised over £2K for a childrens cancer charity.
The team ran the 2019 Manchester 10k to help raise money for Friends of Rosie, a local children’s cancer research charity.
Earlier this week, the team presented Friends of Rosie with an impressive cheque amount totalling just over £2,000 as a result of their fundraising efforts. The donation will help the charity to fund pioneering research projects that aim to improve the treatment and diagnosis of children with cancer.
Rosie Larkin was just 5-years-old when she lost her battle with cancer, her family and friends were determined to continue onwards to fight for other children.
They set up Friends of Rosie, an independent charity dedicated to raising money for research in Manchester into the causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer.
As a volunteer-led charity, almost every penny raised is used as start-up funding for cancer research projects in Manchester. Most of these research projects would never get off the ground without the charity’s support and many go on to be funded by national cancer research charities as a result.
Friends of Rosie strongly believes that the key to cure is research and, with their supporters, they raise money in the North West of England for this underfunded and vital area of research. For more information, see their website at: www.friendsofrosie.co.uk
Says Friends of Rosie Chair of Trustees, Felicity Goodey CBE DL: “Our huge thanks go to the team at Deans Court Chambers for both their running and fundraising achievements. Childhood cancer research remains a shockingly underfunded area of cancer research. Support like this helps us to change that by pumping more funding into these vital areas of research, making a difference for children with cancer in the future.”
