Police are investigating after a woman died in hospital from numerous injuries.
At around 1.50pm yesterday (Saturday 6 July 2019) police were called by hospital staff at Trafford General to reports that a woman who had been admitted after falling ill had numerous injuries.
A short time later, the woman – who is believed to be in her 30s – sadly died.
Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding her death have arrested a 55-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
The woman’s family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the woman’s family after we have sadly had to inform them that their loved one has passed away.
“We will be following every line of enquiry that is available to us to find out exactly what led to her death and will provide any updates as and when we can.”
