An award winning new boxing club in Altrincham are looking for new members to join in to get fit and to compete.
The club relocated from Lymm to its new Atlantic Street base it was then awarded £2000 grant from the Greater Manchester High Sheriff’s Police Trust
These grants enable sports clubs to raise much needed funds and the award will be finalised when the Spartans raise another £2000 from members, supporters and sponsors.
It’s intended the cash will create a high-quality training facility and raise awareness of both boxing and fitness in the local community and develop a future boxing champion.
Spartans chief trainer Darren Harrison commenting on the grant said:
“We’re delighted to have gained the support of the Greater Manchester High Sheriff’s Police Trust. The money will go a long way to developing the boxing club at our new location in Altrincham. We aim to give aspiring boxers of all ages the chance to improve their fitness and to develop their boxing skills especially if they are interested in competing.”
The club also hopes to attract regulated England Boxing events and other high-profile regional boxing championships to be held in Altrincham.
The team at Spartan Amateur Boxing Club are now looking for Trafford-based commercial sponsors so they can finalise their grant.
The money will be invested in installing a competition standard boxing ring and additional seating in their gym. The award will also help to reduce the overall costs of staging competition bouts.
Co-owner Clare Wilman outlined the benefits of sponsorship:
“Boxing is one of the most popular spectator sports in the UK. Commercial sponsors can be sure their contribution will result in great brand awareness for their company and products. In short, it’s a great investment that can pay dividends.”
