Brainwave has raised over £50,000 at The Greatest Show Ball held at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa on 16 November 2019.
The black-tie event, now in its 10th year, saw over 200 people come together for an evening of entertainment and fundraising, sponsored by CPM-UK and hosted by Lord and Lady Fellowes, Patrons of Brainwave.
Guests were greeted by a drinks reception and treated to an aerialist performance from Show Lady, Debbie Nowell.
After the delicious three-course meal, there was a huge fundraising raffle, with prizes including return flights from Manchester to Bali, courtesy of Turkish Airlines, as well as live and silent auctions for jewellery, holidays and event tickets. Guests also had the opportunity to hear about Elsa, who is part of Brainwave’s Therapy Programme, from her Mum Jenny.
After dinner, entertainment was provided by Ring Master, Phil Reeves before Funtime Frankies took to the stage and guests danced the night away.
The evening proved to be an outstanding success for Brainwave, which is currently working with over 400 children across the UK.
Joanne Freeman, Brainwave Fundraiser and event organiser, said: “This year’s charity ball proved to be another great night of fun and fundraising. It was fantastic to see guests laughing and enjoying themselves, and also how touched people were by hearing about Elsa, a young girl who shows just how much children can benefit from the work we do at Brainwave.”
Brainwave is a UK national charity that helps children with disabilities to achieve greater independence. The charity does not receive any government funding and relies on voluntary donations to run its three permanent centres in Cheshire, Somerset and Essex.
Joanne went on to say: “We are so grateful to everyone who was involved in helping us to raise such an incredible amount. We’d like to thank our principal sponsor, CPM-UK; entertainment sponsor, Mike & Catriona Marshall; MC and Ringmaster, John Stapleton & Phil Reeves; The Mere Golf and Spa; Event Station for technical AV support, Funtime Frankies; Show Lady, Debbie Nowell; Northern Starr’s dance troupe; Salutions for supporting the marketing of the event and our wonderful Patrons for their continued support of Brainwave, The Lady Fellowes of West Stafford LVO and The Lord Fellowes of West Stafford DL. We simply would not be able to continue to support children with disabilities across the country without this generosity.”
