Doomed jet had to divert twice over the UK after suspected fuel leaks

A United Boeing 767 departed Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Chicago when the flight crew decided to divert due to a suspected fuel leak.

The aircraft was over the UK on 15 December 2019 when initially the captain decided to divert to London Heathrow (LHR) then changed his mind and landed at Manchester, the aircraft landed safely.

It was on the ground for so long, the flight number had changed from UA-986 to UA-2768 and the aircraft departed to Chicago on the next day, it was around 150 miles from Shannon Airport when yet again the aircraft had to divert because of a suspected fuel leak.

It diverted to Shannon in Ireland and landed safely, the doomed aircraft had a fuel leak last month.
