The money will support the purchase of new gymnastics equipment and the upskilling of coaches and teaching staff.

Gymnastics Trafford is already one of the largest leisure centre schemes in the UK and Sale Leisure Centre is now extending its programme and has moved lessons into the main sports hall, providing more space for additional children to enjoy the sessions. Sale Leisure Centre will now be running 15 classes a week and has introduced two new pre-school classes to its programme.

Trafford Leisure with British Gymnastics, the National Governing Body for the sport, has funded training for 12 of Trafford Leisure’s coaches through its new British Gymnastics Pre-School Course CPD. The course up skills coaches to deliver classes specifically aimed at younger children by helping them understand the key developmental areas for pre-school children and to deliver lessons that are age appropriate, fun and safe.

The upskilling of Trafford Leisure’s coaches goes hand in hand with the investment in new gymnastics equipment, which includes large floor mats, soft play toys, blocks, bars and crash mats.

Shane Robinson, the Gymnastics and Trampolining Brand Manager for Trafford Leisure said:

“Gymnastics is a fun activity for children of any age. As soon as a child is walking, gymnastics is available to them. It’s a fantastic sport that promotes fitness and wellbeing and encourages balance and flexibility. We are so excited to be able to offer more gymnastics classes in a much more spacious environment that both children and their parents will enjoy. The additional upskilling of our coaching staff will ensure all children, whatever their age or ability, are engaged and inspired.

“Trafford Gymnastics across our Trafford Leisure locations offers a fun and structured programme for children, young people and adults of all abilities and levels, with classes starting for children aged from 18 months, as well as boy and girl-only sessions.”

The new class programme at Sale Leisure Centre will begin the week commencing the 5th January and these classes are available to book now.

Jo Cherrett, CEO, Trafford Leisure said:

“We are immensely proud of Trafford Gymnastics and we are delighted to be able to invest in our coaches and our equipment. The CPD courses are crucial in developing our staff to be the best that they can be and ensures that our coaches are up to date with modern teaching practices which supports and nurtures our young gymnastics throughout their training.”
