National Homebuilder, Miller Homes, plans to wave  a temporary goodbye to employee David Bowden in May of this year as he heads off for a 9-day trek up Mount Everest 15-day trek in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charity in Manchester.

Aptly located near one of their most recent developments, Novus in Stretford, the Miller Homes employee has chosen the Ronald McDonald House Charity for personal reasons and hopes to raise £2500 to help them continue their ever-crucial compassionate work.

David, who is Miller Homes’ SHE Advisor for the North West region, will be tackling the brutal challenge alongside a friend, Mike Roberts. The 15-day challenge will involve a 130km hike from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back in a bid to raise funds, it’s expected that the duo will reach an altitude of 5500 meters.

To further encourage donations for the trek, a charitable auction and raffle will be held for which multiple corporate donors have already supported. Raffle prizes are to include cocktails at the Hilton, a signed football from Everton FC and Garmin VivoSmart3 watches.

The duo are being sponsored by VSS, who are a national training provider offering employers, employees and job seekers outstanding delivery of work-based apprenticeships, workforce upskilling, and back to work programmes.

Speaking of his impending journey, David Bowden says: “I’ve been preparing for this trek for months and months, and now I can’t wait to get started! I’m raising money for Ronald McDonald House charity as it’s a really important cause and I hope to raise as much for them as possible!”

£25 pays for 1 night of accommodation for a family and allows parents, siblings and other family members to stay close to the hospital when their children are being cared for. RMHC have helped nearly 50,000 families in their 30-year history.
