The sister of a man who died in a collision in Old Trafford has started a petition to make death by dangerous driving a life sentence.
On 4 April police responded to calls that a man had died after a collision on Seymour Grove in Old Trafford, the man has been named as 56-year-old Ronald Brown.
His family member Janice Brown has since stated on Change.org that he died as the result of another car that allegedly went through a red light and caused Ronald to crash into a lamppost which caused his car to catch fire, he died instantly.
The petition is calling for a mandatory life sentence for anyone who kills people due to bad driving, according to the details on the Change.org page it claims that in 2017 the government had plans to raise the maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving to life behind bars, three years on and nothing has changed.
As the law stands now if a driver gives an early guilty plea apparently he will only serve around 5-years! things do need to change and we support this petition fully.
