Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a Nisa Local store in Wythenshawe.

At around 7.30pm on Saturday 28 March 2020, police were called to reports of an armed robbery at Nisa Local on Bowland Road.

Police attended and enquiries have established that a woman entered the shop and started putting unpaid items in her bag.

A security guard requested that the woman used a basket but she refused citing concerns about Covid-19. A short time later, the woman approached the till where she demanded a large quantity of alcohol and cigarettes before threatening staff and subsequently attacking the security guard with a bladed weapon.

The woman left the scene on foot, with various unpaid items.

The security guard was taken to hospital with head and hand injuries but has since been discharged.

An investigation is underway and no arrests have yet been made.

The offender is described as being white, between the ages of 25 and 30, approximately 5ft 5in tall and of a stocky build.

At the time of the incident, she was wearing a white face mask, a grey hoodie, dark blue rubber gloves and grey leggings.

She was carrying a pink rucksack on her front and a white drawstring carrier bag and is said to have spoken with a local accent.
