Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green has been appointed as the new Shadow Education Secretary by Labour leader Keir Starmer.
Ms Green takes the place of Rebecca Long Bailey who was given the boot by Keir Starmer after sharing what he felt was anti semitism.
Kate Green now aged 60 took up the role of Chief Executive of the Child Poverty Action Group she was also a member of the London Child Poverty Commission.
She was also Director of the National Council for One Parent Families (now called Gingerbread), Kate has also worked at the Home Office.
Kate Green said: “I look forward to working with teachers, unions, parents and councils to help ensure we get our children back in school as soon as possible.”
