Lidl the food retailer are to find out if there application will be approved or rejected at a planning meeting this week.
The recommendation is to refuse the application and that is before the council even looks at the application in full on July 16th.
If the council does decide to refuse LIdl then this will be bad for the 50 people who work at Homebase who’s jobs are on the line, the council needs to also remember this when refusing.
A letter from Homebase has been seen asking for councillors to approve the Lidl store that would save there business at the retail park and 50 jobs.
So far only 8 residents objections have been submitted, this is not a large number of people, we have done our own surveys and everyone we asked looked forward to a Lidl store opening and did agree in each case that the other stores were more scared of reduced footfall than any car parking or road issues.
