Urmston’s new pop-up food bank has had a fantastic start and is already providing assistance to those who are in need over this festive period.

The food bank, which is being organised and distributed by Freemasons at their hall on Westbourne Road in Urmston, is intended to alleviate the pressure felt by families and individuals who have been affected by the covid-19 pandemic and who may be strugling to make ends meet over Christmas and the New Year period.

Freemasons across West Lancashire have come together to provide pop-up food banks for their respective communities and here in Trafford the food bank is already reaching those it was intended for. Food bank coordinator Shaun Brookhouse is hoping that it will reach even more of the community where it can help make a difference.

Shaun said. “if anyone knows of a person or family in need, they could contact me and arrange a collection or a time to turn up at the Hall. The opening times are 12:00 to 15:00 Monday and Friday until Jan 31st 2021 with the exception of the weeks before and after Christmas when it will be open on Thursday 24th and Thursday 31st of December”.

If you or anyone you know is need of the assistance of the food bank you can contact Shaun Brookhouse at foodbank@masonicmail.net or Telephone him on 07506732400.
