Trafford Housing Trust gives £100,000 support for Sale Moor Community Partnership

A Trafford community partnership is to move into new premises in the summer thanks to a £100,000 grant from Trafford Housing Trust.

Sale Moor Community Partnership (SMCP) is currently based at buildings owned by the Trust on Norris Road in Sale.  The grant will enable them to move to new, modular premises in Sale Moor.

The news of the move comes as work has re-started this week at the Trust’s new Norris Road housing and retail development, which was paused temporarily after the previous contractor went into administration.

Whitfield and Brown have now been appointed to complete the development, which will provide 29 new flats and facilities for the Norris Road stores, who the Trust is in ongoing discussions with about a move across to the new scheme when it opens in the autumn.

Jamie Rennie, SMCP Charity Manager, said: “We’re very grateful to Trafford Housing Trust for the grant, which will allow us to move in to new, purpose-built premises.  This is great news for us and the residents of Sale Moor, and means that we can continue to promote education, wellbeing, environmental improvement and provide community support.”

Larry Gold, CEO of Trafford Housing Trust, said: “We’re pleased to continue supporting SMCP, as they provide such a vital resource to residents, particularly during the pandemic.  Through our Social Investment Fund we are committed to supporting projects that strengthen families and improve skills and employment opportunities, and SMCP is a great example of this.

“We are also very happy that work has begun again at the new housing and retail development in Sale Moor.  We’re very grateful to residents and businesses for their patience, understanding and cooperation whilst we found a new contractor amid the further restrictions to construction that came as a result of the pandemic.  We’re confident that, when complete, the new facilities will be a real asset to the area.”
