Rapper DMX has passed away aged 50
The rap stars real name Earl Simmons died of a heart attack and had been on life support, reports suggest he was deprived of oxygen for around 30 mins which left him in a bad way, he never regained much of his brain function and his other organs started to fail.
His family was at his bedside in a New York hospital when the decision was made to switch of his life support and died a short while later.
A rep for his family tells TMZ, “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end.”
The statement continues, “He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalised.”
DMX starred alongside Martial Arts expert Steven Seagal in Exit Wounds and in recent times linked up with Seagal again in the 2019 film Beyond the law.
Simmons though had a blip in his star studded music career when he was jailed for tax evasion he was also fined heavily.
