Cyclist in hospital after a collision in Old Trafford

Police were called at around 1.15am today (Saturday 29 May 2021) to a report of a collision on Chorlton Road, Trafford close to the junction of Ayres Road.

Emergency services attended and enquiries established a Volkswagen Scirocco had been in collision with a cyclist.

The cyclist – a 28-year-old man – sustained life threatening injuries and remains in hospital for treatment.

The driver remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries and no arrests have been made.

Police Constable Neil Pennington of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the man who has sustained serious injuries following this collision and is currently receiving urgent medical treatment.

“We’re appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision, witnessed the collision or saw either the cyclist or car before the collision to come forward and assist police with our enquiries. We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage around the time of the incident.”
