Police issue a Dispersal Order around Stretford due to an increase in people being attacked and robbed

Police have today (1 October 2021) issued a section 35 Dispersal Order under the Anti Social Behaviour Crime and Policing act 2014 that covers a wide part of Stretford and around Stretford Mall, it also applies to a big part of the Bridgewater Canal tow path.

The order will start at 5pm today and will end at the same time this Sunday (Oct 3)

Because the order is now in place any officer can tell a person to move away from where they are and not to return which applies to everyone aged 10 or over failure to comply could see you arrested.

This order has been put in place to tackle a number of robberies that have been reported whereby groups of males have attacked lone victims and stolen mobile phones.

This is to enable people walking alone in these areas to feel safe.This area will be seeing a heightened police presence for the foreseeable.
