Open all hours actress Lynda Baron has died aged 82

She died on 5 March 2022.

The Urmston born actress will be best known for playing Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the BBC sitcom Open all hours alongside Sir David Jason and Ronnie Barker.

Baron also starred in the award winning children’s series ‘Come outside’ she had a part to play in BBC’s soap opera Eastenders.

Although her career was mostly for television she also seen in several movies including Carry On Columbus and previously in 1971 the Hammer film ‘Hands of the ripper’

She also appeared on stage and starred in several plays, she was also credited for ‘The full monty’

On hearing of her death many stars paid tribute to her on social media including Twitter accounts for CBeebies and Eastenders.

Funeral arrangements could mean a tour of Urmston which if it happens we will go live on our Instagram channel, we will let everyone know in advance.

It is currently unknown why Lynda Baron died.
