It’s the Great Manchester Run 2022 at the weekend and some of the biggest names in athletics will be turning out.

The 10k run will start in City Centre Manchester and run past Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium and then returning back to the finish line on Deansgate.

Last years event was well attended although many of the big names in athletics did not turn up due to Covid, although we did see Eilish McColgan who won the women’s elite race.

This year a big field is lined up which sadly does not include Mo Farah who has had to pull out.

Because of the race some roads will be closed.

The event itself starts early this Sunday at 7.30am, the elite women’s race starts at 11.15am and the elite men’s at 11.30pm.

You can download the full 10k route here

Good luck to all the local runners and those that are participating for the first time, even in a short run like the 10k you will still need to prepare the right way, making sure you have the right pair of trainers and clothing on the day.

Do not get excited too quickly and set off at a blistering pace, unless you are super human you will soon regret that mistake!

We will be on the course doing a live broadcast on our Instagram channel for the elite races so please follow our channel and tune in live at around 11am.
