This years Great Manchester Run was one of the best seen with some big names in the athletics world attending alongside thousands of club athletes and first time runners.

On the course we did not see much of a spectator presence however this did not spoil the event as the club runners and those running for the first time got underway first then it was the elite women and then men to end the day’s racing.

At 9 miles the elite women came past us at just over 10 minutes, with Eilish McColgan in third place and seemed to be cruising rather than racing, she picked up the pace to finish second behind Hellen Obiri, second place also gets her £100 prize money and a free entry into next years race.

The men’s elite race started just after 11.30am and was won by Jake Robertson.

Lots of people also ran for charity, some blind people also was seen running with the guide which is brilliant, disabled people were also seen running, it was a good mix of people some running for the first time, they all should be feeling incredibly proud of themselves.

With Manchester United’s iconic stadium as the backdrop, the weather being warm and no threat of rain, runners happy, it was a good day all around and one that will be remembered buy all that participated.
