Strike action by Network Rail signallers next week will affect the tram network here in Trafford.

Tram services between Altrincham and Timperley before 7am and after 7pm rely on Network Rail signallers for safe operation through that part of the network.

Additional trams will be running across the Metrolink network on the strike days which will be 21, 23 and 25 June.

The strike is over pay and it is hoped even at this late stage an agreement can be made and for strike action to be called off.

According to the government the strike action will cause more problems than it solves, they have claimed that the railways cost over £20bn a year to run and due to loss in revenue for all the needless lockdowns they only took £4bn in rail fares last year.

Passengers are being told not to use the train network on strike days as many services will be suspended.
