Work has now started on the Lidl store that will see Homebase cut in half and the relocation of Homebase flower centre.

The car park area from Homebase to near the bus stop on the A56 is now being dug up getting ready for the new flower Centre, we expect the demolition of the existing flower and pot store at Homebase will begin soon.

We have been told the Lidl store will be built and ready to open in Spring 2023.

For people who used to short cut into the retail park will have to go around near to the bus stop area on A56 once all work is completed, as of now you have to go to the entrance at Gerorge Richards Way.

The Lidl store went to appeal and the German firm won, Trafford Council Planning Committee first refused the application due to some delusions about dangers to cyclists, and the Altair development in Altrincham which is another delusion.

Lidl put in a new application and the planning committee approved it however it went to appeal due to an objection, Lidl won the appeal.

Homebase will be a smaller store but will now be able to save jobs and of course Lidl will be needing staff and so will be giving local people the chance to work for the German firm.

Lidl has some bargains in store and competes very well with all the big stores and will be a great addition to what is already on offer giving people more choice.
