Actress Olivia Newton John has died aged 73

Olivia Newton John who will be best remembered as Sandy in the film Grease has died aged 73, her husband John Easterling said she passed away this morning (8 August) at home.

She was also a recording artist and made many songs in her time including a number one hit in the 80’s called ‘Lets get physical’, it is though the film Grease that gave her that lift into the big time playing alongside John Travolta who also issued a statement on his Instagram feed:

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!
Your Danny, your John!”

Olivia had stage 4 breast cancer and in her final days remained upbeat about it from reading other press reports, she had cancer for 30 years!

She was born in Cambridge UK but emigrated to Australia with her family at the age of 6-years-old, her father was an MI5 officer.

Newton John was also an activist campaigning against animal cruelty.
