One place a lot of people do not know about is the (TPT) Trans pennine trail that goes from Altrincham out towards lymm and further to Warrington.
The trail is on a former rail route and goes for miles in one straight line, either side of the trail is acres of farm land and woodland, all types of wildlife can be seen mostly when the sun has gone down.
Although with such a peaceful route available for the public not many people use it from Trafford and it is time others explored this route that often has no one on it depending on what time you go.
It is perfect for those with mental health issues, go for a nice walk or cycle with your care worker, if you need some peace of mind and just need some time by yourself this is the route to take.
Its great for runners also, with the surface being so good this is ideal for running, no dog walkers ever seen although once you get into Lymm you will see many dog walkers that though is miles away.
The trees give you some cover if it rains and if you want to sit down a couple of benches are provided, if you come by car then you can park up at the start of the trail and another car park is available half way down opposite a bit of stone with some memorial plaque on it.
If you are into rail more so old rail routes you sadly won’t find much on the route however some infrastructure remains such as two station houses and a tea room, some track bed remains although you can only see the stones to the sides.
No cafe’s or shops are anywhere along the route so remember to bring with you some drinks and some food, if cycling of course always bring your puncture stuff and a spare inner tube, the surface is excellent though and expect you will be fine.
Explore this amazing route with our promise that you will be glad you did!
To get to the start of the trail go down the A56 towards Altrincham Retail Park take a right onto George Richards Way go all the way down past Asda go past the roundabout continue onwards keep going after the road turn left all the way down and right in front of you is the start of the trail, if by car you are best going to the bottom of Atlantic Street from A56 cross the road at the bottom and you are at the car park.
