During the early hours the River Mersey at Flixton was very low and looked like the river was safe from flooding, this morning the river flooded.

Flixton Road or Mile Road as its known was under water as was all the fields around it, the water was fast flowing and getting deeper, we saw a vehicle seemingly stuck half way down heading towards Carrington although soon after the driver found a way of reversing out of the situation.
A police helicopter was then seen circling the area and with a megaphone shouted safety information “You must leave the scene for your own safety” then a man on an electric bike went for it thinking he could make it.
He did not make it at and ended up coming down fortunately he reappeared and came back soaked, and was glad to see that his bike was still working and other than a small cut to his foot he went back home.
Fortunately now the water levels are slowly coming down and normality will resume unless the weather decides to drench us again and we will be back to square one so look out for weather forecasts on our Weather page.
