Local Sports Club ‘Trafford MV’ Based in Sale have a season of new challenges ahead following their 1st XV relegation in the 2025/26 season which see’s the team now competing in the Counties 2 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire League following two seasons at the higher level.
The Club is now concentrating on regrouping and recruiting so that a new challenge can be launched to get in among the promotion contenders in 2026/27 season which begins in September.
Lot’s of hard work needs to be done however and pre-season training is now under way each Tues/Thursday evening at 7.00pm at the Club (M33 6LR).
A number of new players have already arrived at the club and the focus is on fitness work and handling skills before moving onto drills and attack/defence work.
Trafford MV will be fielding two senior teams within the league structure and will also be looking to turn out an occasional social side for friendly fixtures to provide game time for players not able to commit to training.
There will also be Touch Rugby sessions on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings for players to have a bit of recreational rugby.
There will also be a Ladies 1st XV plus teenage girls rugby groups from U12’s upwards which is a great way for ypung girls to become involved in a team sport where everyone is involved in the game.
Mini/Junior Rugby will return to the Club on Sunday Sept 6th when a multitude of young rugby players from the age of 3 to 18 years-old descend on the Clubs wide open spaces to enjoy their sport in a well organised, family friendly environment where the focus is on taking party and enjoyment and not all about winning.
We want our kids to have a good time playing their sport.
If you think you are past it – Think Again ! We also have Walking Rugby for over 50’s so that men and women can still enjoy the game of Rugby or even play it for the first time. Walking Rugby is on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm and despite the over 50’s tag-line if you want to give it a go just come on down and have some fun.
Alongside the Rugby we have a thriving Cricket section fielding 5 men’s teams, a Ladies XI plus youth and Dynamos and All Stars Cricket for little ones.
Associated groups at the Club include Sale Community Fitness, St Brendan’s Gaelic Football for all to get involved with and enjoy. A lively Social Calendar makes Trafford MV the place to be if you are interested in playing or watching live sport and enjoying a good social life.
