Police swarm around Altrincham Crematorium in multi-force covert operation

Police swarmed around Altrincham Crematorium this evening (24 July 2026) blocking Whitehouse lane from any traffic.

Armed police were also seen forming in 2 lines either side of the road which was situated nearer to Sinderland Lane, more police turned up all in full emergency mode, no other emergency services attended,

Police officers at the scene later confirmed it was for a funeral and it was a lengthy multi force operation over many counties which included use of helicopter support (NPAS) who tracked down the offenders going to this funeral.

One officer confirmed that some offenders were detained but could not say what they had done, although he did say some of them had been seen driving badly on the region’s motorways. The officer declined to answer any further questions.

What was noted though was the amount of super cars coming from the crematorium, initially it was thought a famous person was cremated but this was not the case.

Whilst the operation was on-going Sinderland Lane had cars and 247 bus in a queue heading in the direction of Partington but were ushered through, no traffic issues though heading towards Broadheath.
