This Saturday see’s another international fixture for Trafford MV following their close loss to Welsh side Denbigh last weekend 40-36. From County Cork in Eire club side Skibbereen arrive in Trafford to face our own local Rugby Club Trafford MV at MacPherson Park, M33 6LR.

We are expecting a good crowd for this first home action of the 2026/27 season. Recent rain has given pitches a little reprieve from the recent drought like conditions and will allow good rugby to be played.

Both sides will be fielding competitive squads and with perfect conditions likely we will be expecting to see some good open, flowing rugby. Trafford will be looking to improve on their defence and at the same time keep their attacking edge to bring a favourable result.

With a good home crowd expected Trafford MV are also putting a call out to the local Irish community to come along and give some support to the side visiting from the Emerald Isle – bring your Ireland flags and wear the Green to let Skibbereen know you are there for them !

Trafford MV have some new faces in the squad plus some new young talent breaking through from the senior colts XV and they will be excited to see how this new talent gels together before the league season reaches it’s delayed start.

With the game kicking off at 2pm (clubhouse bar open from 1pm) there will be plenty of time after the game for players and spectators to find a seat and settle down ahead of the big televised Rugby clash between the South African Springboks and the New Zealand All Blacks in a 4.05pm kick off game.

Two of the best sides in World Rugby will come together in a 3 match series to claim the top dog status in the World Rankings. All local rugby supporters are welcome to join us at Trafford MV as players on the pitch or spectators on the touchline to enjoy rugby union.

Mini and Junior Rugby returns to Trafford MV soon with the U5’s starting on Bank Holiday Sunday at 10.00am while all other age groups will open their season on Sunday Sept 6th.

On the Social side Trafford MV will play host to the South Of The River Beer and Music Festival on Sept 18/19th with tickets now available from the Club Bar during opening hours and also online vis Eventbrite. Please take a look at our event on Facebook to see what we have lined up with live music, great beers and tasty foods to be enjoyed.
