The clocks go back an hour in the early hours of Sunday meaning less light and more darkness as we head into the winter months here in the UK.

We will all notice the difference and it is now that people need to get dialled in and prepare, cyclists need to make sure you have good lights front and back, wear as much hi-vis as you can, all pedestrians and runners would be better wearing some hi-vis if possible, this could be on your trainers or jacket just for safety and to be more visible to all road users.

There has been some noise around keeping to BST (British Summer Time) but as ever nothing happens so for the foreseeable we will have to put up with less light until spring next year.

Despite the change everyone will get an extra hour in bed which is probably more important to those in charge of changing our timezone than safety.
