Mobile World Congress 2017 has been and gone and the world knows now what is the latest and greatest in the mobile phone world.
Here we look at a selection of handsets we picked out as being the contenders of being labelled as an “iPhone killer””.
LG G6 is first on our list since the Samsung S8 will be unpacked at the end of this month, last year LG gave us the G5, which got mixed reviews mostly because of the outer casing, which some said felt cheap, I also saw some issue with the back of the phone.
This year LG has released a handset like no other! a new design, and robust exterior, it has done away with the modular design of the G5 and has some very interesting software improvements and additions.
The LG G6 has a 5.7″ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels, it has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for screen protection and is waterproof and dustproof.
On board the G6 is two 13 mega pixel cameras, one at 1.8f and the other 2.4f, the front facing camera is 8 mega pixels wide-angle.
Other things this handset has got is Dolby Vision which enhances the visual quality when watching a film or YouTube.
The 3300 MAH battery is very strong and should last a day and a half with heavy use, and the thing that drives this handset is called a Snapdragon 821 with a octa core processor.
Other handsets to look out for in the coming weeks are of course the Samsung S8, Huawei P10, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the first Nokia devices.
All the big names will be fighting it out to try to catch Apple who will be releasing two new iPhones this year, we believe is a 7s and an 8 anniversary edition, although only speculation.
The new iPhones will be released soon after the showcase event in September, the anniversary edition is set to be the best iPhone to date and yes you guessed it, it will be the most expensive! thing is if your upgrade is in the next few months, what do you do? well we suggest if you want the iPhone to tell your network a month in advance that you want to go on a sim only deal which will save you some money.
Once they have put you on the sim only, keep it in your current handset until the date of the new iPhone and then upgrade, you must though tell your network as they may lock you in to a new two-year contract with that same phone! remember mobile networks do not care about you! it’s a business after all.
