Tesco are changing the way its Metro and express sstores are run and as a result thousands of jobs will be cuts.
Over 4000 Tesco workers could end up on the scrapheap under plans announced today, the reason for the cuts are due to the way Tesco says both Metro and Express stores are run.
People were using the stores as convenience shops than weekly shops and so Tesco wanted to make the changes.
A total of 134 express stores will be affected by the changes which might mean Partington’s Tesco Express could be hit, this would mean different opening hours and shelf filling changes.
Jason Tarry, UK & ROI CEO, said: “In a challenging, evolving retail environment, with increasing cost pressures, we have to continue to review the way we run our stores to ensure we reflect the way our customers are shopping and do so in the most efficient way. We do not take any decision which impacts colleagues lightly, but have to make sure we remain relevant for customers and operate a sustainable business now and in the future.”
