Trafford MV Rugby Club pre-season continues this Saturday away at Eccles with a 2pm kick off.
The club have said that training numbers have been very good over the last month with 35-40 players at every Tues/Thurs training session which bodes well for the club in getting teams out for the 2019/20 season which begins in earnest in September.
However the club continues it’s search for new talent and any local rugby talent produced through local rugby playing schools and interested players should turn up for a run out at any training session from 6.45pm.
MV head into the new season led by new club Captain Patrick Eccles and coached by last seasons captain Andy Quigley and local teacher Stuart Crampton. Homegrown talent is the basis of MV’s playing squads with many players coming from the junior section through the various age groups but the club also recruits players with talent from the local universities and colleges.
Trafford MV will be competing in the 12 team ADM Lancashire Premier League playing against the best amateur clubs in the county and will be looking to improve on their disappointing showing last season. There will be new players in the fight for places this season which augments a positive attitude ahead of the first friendly against neighbouring Salford based Eccles.
MV also have a friendly lined up against Leigh RFC on Aug 17th before going into their first real game of the season away at Southport on Aug 31st in the Lancs Cup.
Trafford MV’s commitment to the community was highlighted recently as the Club hosted a Charity Fancy Dress Rugby match in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support which raised around £3,000 for the cause.
