A Stretford man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a hit and run on Deansgate.
At around 4.40am this morning (27 August 2019) police were called to reports of a collision between a Toyota Prius and a pedestrian on Deansgate, in Manchester City Centre.
The driver left the scene following the collision.
The pedestrian – a man who is believed to in his 20s – has been taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries.
Shortly before 7.20am, a man was arrested in Stretford on suspicion of failing to stop following a collision, driving without due care and attention, causing serious injury by careless driving.
There are road closures in place on Deansgate which are expected to remain in place until for several hours. Commuters are advised to avoid the area where possible.
