Police are continuing to investigate a property on Milton Street, Stretford. At around 2.20am this morning (Thursday 28 January 2021) officers executing a warrant at the property discovered a firearm and two grenades.

These have since been safely removed from the property for assessment and a controlled explosion has taken place.

A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm she remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mannion of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “We appreciate the concern and disruption events such as this can cause and our top priority is ensuring the local community are kept safe.

“The devices located this morning have been safely extracted from the property and a controlled explosion has taken place.”

A cordon and scene will remain in place for the foreseeable to ensure the property is fully examined and can be deemed safe.

Some members of the public mentioned seeing a big police presence and helicopters flying over checking out the area, police will be around a little more to reassure and to update residents.
