Lots of people from all walks of life turned up to run either the 10k or half marathon distances what was really lacking was the sparkle of past races.

The route though had changed and it looked to have confused spectators since the 10K event has always gone down Chester Road and on to Sir Matt Busby way, this time it went down Wharfside Way.

At around 11.30 am the noise of the BBC helicopter got louder which told us the elite athletes were near, and shortly after they came past making it look easy, for the most part Eilish McColgan and Meraf Bahta was battling it out and that is how it finished with McColgan winning the race with a time of 30:52 and Bahta 31.44.

The elite men’s race came the same way shortly after the women’s race and it did not have too many familiar faces line up this year however the standards were good with Marc Scott winning in a time of 28.03 and just behind in second place was Andrew Butchart with a time of 28.05, Jack Row was third just behind Butchart at 28.07.

Well done to all that took part today more so for those running for charity, and those who participated in a costume which made those watching smile, the weather was good for running and despite the low numbers of spectators where we was on Wharfside Way, this was a very enjoyable event and look forward to covering it live next year.

Up next for us is the Manchester Marathon we will be streaming live for this event where you will be able to see on our Facebook group, if you would like to join in please give us a follow or a like for this and the latest news from Trafford.
